The night before, I had finally revealed my surprise to Joryce.
After several days of keeping the secret, he now knew that a little pug was waiting for us in the Montreal area.
We could have waited a few days before going to get him.
But honestly…
Neither of us wanted to wait.
The next morning, I got up early.
Looking out the window, I could not help but smile.
A real snowstorm had settled in overnight.
The snow was falling heavily.
The wind was blowing hard.
The drive promised to be a long one.
I turned to Joryce.
— “Are we going?”
He looked outside for a few seconds.
Then he looked at me with a smile.
I said:
— “I’m in. We’ll take it slow.”
He started laughing.
— “What… are you having contractions?”
I did not even hesitate.
des
grosses!
We burst out laughing.
At that moment, there was no longer a storm.
There was no longer any bad weather.
There was only that overwhelming desire to meet the puppy who already filled our thoughts.
We prepared the car.
One last look at the house…
And we hit the road.
The drive from Charlevoix to the Montreal area felt different this time.
Every kilometre brought us closer to our future companion.
The snow was falling heavily.
At times, visibility became very poor.
We drove slowly.
Very slowly.
But we kept moving forward.
As we approached our destination, the snow gradually began to disappear.
Throughout the drive, we imagined that little puppy.
Was he as lovable as he looked in the photos?
Would he come to us?
How would he react when he saw us for the first time?
We talked about him as though he were already part of our family.
Without even realizing it…
We were already falling in love with him.
We had no idea that this day would mark the beginning of the greatest adventure of our lives.
An adventure that would take us thousands of kilometres, across Quebec's most beautiful roads, throughout Canada and the United States, and prove that travelling with a dog is absolutely possible when motorcycles are your passion.
But for now…
Only one thing mattered.
Reaching our destination.
Finally…
Meeting Harley.
